FAQ

Questions we get asked every week

If yours isn't here, call and ask. We'd rather answer it than have you guess.

Will you have to drill my lock?
Usually not. We attempt non-destructive entry first. Some high-security cylinders genuinely cannot be opened any other way, and if yours is one of them we tell you before we start, along with what a replacement will cost.
What do I need to prove it's my property?
Photo ID showing the address, a lease, a rates or utility notice, or written confirmation from the owner or managing agent. We ask every time, without exception.
Do you give prices over the phone?
We give the callout fee and an estimate range based on what you describe, then a firm price on site once we've seen the door. We won't quote a figure we already know is unrealistic.
Is rekeying cheaper than changing the locks?
Generally yes, provided the existing hardware is in good condition. Rekeying changes the internals so old keys stop working while keeping the lock body in place.
Can you make one key work on all my doors?
In most cases, yes. Keyed-alike setups need compatible cylinders across the doors. We check compatibility before quoting.
I'm renting. Can I change the locks?
In Victoria you generally need your rental provider's consent, and they generally need yours. When a lock is changed, the other party is normally entitled to a copy of the new key. We supply the extra set as standard.
Do you charge more after hours?
Yes, and we tell you the after-hours rate before you agree to the booking rather than on the invoice.
What warranty do I get?
A written workmanship warranty on installations, plus the manufacturer's warranty on the hardware itself. Details are on our warranty page and on your invoice.
Can you open a car?
We handle standard mechanical vehicle lockouts where we can verify ownership. Modern transponder and proximity systems often need a dealer or auto-electrical specialist, and we'll tell you honestly which situation you're in rather than attend and fail.
Why aren't there customer reviews on this site?
Because website testimonials are trivially easy to invent, and we won't publish anything we can't verify. Ask for references when you call and we'll seek permission from past customers before sharing anything.
