Privacy Policy
What personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
Last updated: 3 August 2026
This policy explains how PV Emergency Locksmith ("we", "us") handles personal information. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and we apply those principles as our standard whether or not the Act binds a business of our size.
Information we collect
We only collect what we need to quote, perform and invoice locksmith work:
- Your name, phone number and email address
- The service address and details about the property, door or hardware
- Evidence of your entitlement to access a property, vehicle or safe (for example, sighting a licence, lease or rates notice)
- Job records, including the work performed, hardware supplied and keys issued
- Billing details and payment records
- Correspondence you send us by phone, email or the website form
Where we sight identification to verify entitlement, we record that verification occurred and the type of document sighted. We do not retain photocopies or scans of identity documents unless you ask us to attach one to a work order.
Why we collect it
- To respond to enquiries and provide quotes
- To perform locksmith services you have requested
- To verify that a person is entitled to access a property, vehicle or safe
- To issue invoices, take payment and keep tax records
- To honour warranty claims and handle complaints
- To meet legal obligations, including record keeping for restricted key systems
How we collect it
Usually directly from you, by phone, email, our website contact form, or in person at the job. We may also receive information from a third party who arranges work on your behalf, such as a property manager, strata committee, employer or insurer.
Website data
Our website form does not store submissions on a server: it opens your own email client with the details you entered, and the enquiry reaches us as an ordinary email. Our hosting provider records standard server logs, which may include IP addresses, for security and reliability purposes. We do not run advertising trackers or sell website data.
Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only where necessary:
- To subcontractors or suppliers directly involved in your job, limited to what they need
- To a property owner, agent or strata manager where they engaged us for the work
- To our payment processor, accountant or bank to process and record payment
- Where required or authorised by law, including a valid request from a law enforcement agency
For restricted key systems, we maintain a key register naming authorised holders. That register is disclosed only to the system holder you nominate.
Storage and security
Records are held in access-controlled business systems and, where paper records exist, secured on our premises. Key system records and access-control information are treated as sensitive and restricted to staff who need them. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
How long we keep it
Financial and job records are kept for at least seven years to meet Australian taxation and record-keeping requirements. Key system registers are kept for the life of the system. Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted once they are no longer useful.
Overseas disclosure
We do not routinely send personal information overseas. Some standard business software we use, such as email and accounting services, may store data on servers outside Australia. We choose providers that apply protections comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles.
Access and correction
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything inaccurate. Email admin@pvemergencylocksmith.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first, and in limited circumstances we may refuse access - if we do, we will explain why in writing.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email admin@pvemergencylocksmith.com with the details. We will acknowledge within 5 business days and aim to resolve the matter within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can refer the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business changes. The current version is always published on this page with its last updated date.
